TEXAS -- Seven children were bitten by dogs Tuesday morning near Cavazos Elementary, but the dog that children accused of biting them has since been euthanized and sent to Austin for testing.
Police reported they were searching for the owner Wednesday afternoon but did not have an address.
According to an email sent by Odessa Police Department spokeswoman Sherrie Carruth, Animal Control was called at about 8:20 a.m. to the elementary school on a report that two children were bitten by a German Shepherd. Although two dogs were reportedly in the area, only one dog bit the children.
Animal Control initially could find neither dog, Carruth said in the email, but they were called out again at 11 a.m. on a report that the same two dogs returned and the same one bit four more children.
Animal Control found both dogs, and one of the dogs has been euthanized.
Carruth said in the email that the children suffered minor injuries, with one of them suffering a shoulder injury in the attacks.
Tuesday night, the family of a seventh child reported their child was bitten by the dog, police reported Wednesday. That child, a seven-year-old, suffered minor injuries.
