CONNECTICUT --A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged with kicking his girlfriend’s pet Chihuahua to death.
Lynx Tribuce, of 157 Bull Lane, West Haven, was arrested on a warrant charging him with cruelty to animals.
Tribuce reportedly told police he was upset with the woman, and that he kicked the dog when it wouldn’t stop barking.
Animal Control Officer Cheryl Gagnon said she and Officer William Kogut were called to a Bayberry Court residence on Aug. 31 for a report of a dog “that had been injured.”
However, the dog died before Gagnon and Kogut arrived at the home.
Gagnon took the dog to a veterinarian who performed a necropsy — a post-mortem on the 5.8-pound dog.
The examination determined the dog “had died of blunt force trauma to the head,” Gagnon said.
The test “showed three areas of damage on the right side” of the tiny dog’s head.
There were also indications of injuries that were consistent with prior attacks. But, Gagnon said, “The vet could not be sure.”
Gagnon and Kogut then interviewed Tribuce, who admitted he had in fact kicked the dog, causing its death.
Tribuce said “he was in shock over what he did and was sickened by it,” Gagnon said.
Working together, Kogut and Gagnon then applied for and were granted a warrant for Tribuce’s arrest.
Following his arrest, Trubuce was released on $20,000 bail.
He is scheduled to appear in Middlesex Superior Court on Tuesday.
