TENNESSEE -- Memphis Police are investigating what caused a family dog to bite a two year-old Sunday night.
According to MPD, the attack happened in a home in the 1200 block of Leawood Sunday before 8 pm.
Family members said the 2-year-old boy was taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and is recovering. Memphis Animal Services detained the dog.
Neighbors who live on the street have seen the animal before, and said the dog always seemed friendly.
Still, those neighbors said they did not trust the pit bull.
“It’s definitely a concern because I know they have the power to be dangerous,” said Terry Taylor.
Family members said Monday they will not be taking the dog back into their home, for fear another attack might happen.
