Former Tulsa Fire Captain Charged With Animal Cruelty

OKLAHOMA -- A former Tulsa Fire captain admits guilt to animal cruelty charges and hears his sentence.

Randy Shipman is convicted of shooting and killing his neighbor's dog. A Tulsa County judge sentenced Shipman to four years probation. He's being forced to pay a $600 fine and serve 80 hours of community service at Tulsa SPCA.

According to records, Shipman told police he shot the boxer with a BB gun to keep it from barking.
The incident happened April 1st in Broken Arrow.
 
The animal died from five gunshot wounds.

Tulsa Fire Department placed Shipman on paid leave after the incident. He resigned on his own two weeks later, according to the department.
