UNITED KINGDOM -- Arianne Brown, nine, needed 30 stitches in her face after she was attacked by the border collie on Friday.
Her mum, Dawn, 45, from Fenham, near Newcastle, said: “My daughter has been left scarred for life.
“She went into her friend’s house and said ‘hello boy’ to the dog and he jumped up and bit her in the face.
“When she came home she was crying and covered in blood and she told me she has been attacked by a dog.”
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said that as the dog was in the owner’s home and not out of control, no offence had been committed.
He said: “It was an unfortunate accident.”
But Dawn said: “I think this should have been treated more seriously.
“If a dog will attack a little girl like that, it might do it again.
“It is a dangerous dog as far as I am concerned.”
