TENNESSEE -- A Frayser man is in custody accused of sending his pit bull after police officers.
Officers were called to North Memphis home by a mom who said her son was high on cocaine and out of control.
Police say Terron Sigges was crying and begging officers to talk to his mother.
She had kicked him out of the house and told him never to come back.
But when police wouldn’t [convince his mother to let him stay], officers say Siggers released his pit bull from the bathroom and told the dog to get them.
Officers say the dog attacked them and they couldn’t get out of the house because Siggers took the doorknob off the front door.
Police say when the officers were finally able to escape the house, the pit bull chased them down the street while Siggers laughed at them from his front porch.
”Terron was laughing at the police officers?’ asked Reporter Sabrina Hall.
“That’s not what happened,” said Sigger’s wife, who didn’t want to tell us her name.
She says police made up the story and that their dog only escaped when Siggers was packing-up his car to leave the house.
“So, you are saying the dog is not violent?” asked Hall.
“No. He’s a five month old puppy and he’s not violent at all,” said his wife.
Some neighbors on Laredo Street disagree and say the family had three pit bulls at one time and they’ve had to deal with them before.
“They tried to attack my daughter who is nine,” said Anita Bell.
Bell says she’s relieved to know Siggers is in jail and his dog, Spider, has been picked-up by Animal Control.
Siggers is being held in jail on a $30,000 bond for disorderly conduct and aggravated assault.
