Pit bull owner surrenders second dog

FLORIDA -- The owner of Sky, the black pit bull that was killed Monday after charging at a police officer, has surrendered a second dog involved in the incident.

Police say Sarah Wagner's two pit bulls escaped Monday from her home on Luna Vista Drive after killing the family cat. The dogs then tried to attack a man who fought them off with a trash can.

When police responded, Sky charged at Officer Greg Williams, who shot her. A second dog, a white pit bull named Angel, ran off and returned a few hours later.

Angel escaped from the home again on Wednesday, so the city's Animal Protection Unit captured him. Due to his history of aggression and lack of tags, the dog was taken into custody, and Wagner surrendered her rights to him.

Angel, who also has a large tumor on his front left leg, will likely be euthanized, Williams said. "I don't see any way we can in good conscience adopt it out," Williams said.
