What started off as a domestic dispute turned into a gruesome killing. Police say Mullennix pushed his wife over a couch and then stomped on the head of his 10-year-old Pomeranian and put it in a trash can.

She says she's not surprised, because she believes the dog was abused. "He's kicked the dog more than once, you can tell when a dog has been abused and stuff, and I've seen it and it's not fair to that animal."
Neighbor Kristina Borland said she could hear the dog yelp and whine at 5 o'clock in the morning.
"It will be yelping to the point where it would wake me up and my dog started barking too," Borland said.
Police say they are used to responding to animal cruelty calls where someone neglects a pet, but rarely do they respond to a call where someone purposely kills their own animal.
"Pomeranian is a little dog so it probably wouldn't take a whole lot," said Piqua Deputy Chief Marty Grove.
Mullennix has been arrested for domestic violence in the past but never animal cruelty. He told police the dog was old and having health issues and after the dog bit him he went off and killed it. However, Police tell us they didn't find any bite marks.
"That's sad," said Borland. "The dog needed to be put out of its misery because it was in pain but to do it in an inhumane way like that is not cool."
"You go outside in the evenings and you can hear the dog crying and you want to go up and say hey but it causes neighborly problems but I don't like it. I hope you rot in heck for killing that dog," said Kuykendall.
Mullennix is scheduled to appear in court next Wednesday. His bond is set at $75,000.
