ARKANSAS -- A Clay County man was airlifted to The MED in Memphis Wednesday morning after his car hit a horse and then a house.
The crash happened at 5:30 a.m. on Highway 25 in White Oak, according to Trooper B. W. Emerson of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Billie D. Lewis, 62, of St. Francis was southbound when his 2003 Buick Century struck a horse in the roadway.
The car then ran off the left side of the road and slammed into a house.
Lewis was airlifted to the Elvis Presley Trauma Center (The MED) in Memphis with serious injuries.
His passenger, 82-year-old Alice M. Seal of Gibson, was also seriously injured. She was taken by ambulance to Twin Rivers Medical Center in Kennett.
Trooper Emerson reported both were wearing their seat belts.
