POLAND -- Twinkie the two-year-old pony got into a hole lot of trouble when she had it away on her toes - and disappeared down a four foot deep ditch.
The frisky mare had jumped out of her paddock in Kobylka, Poland, for a gallop in a neighbouring field and sunk down to her neck in a drainage ditch.
"It was full of mud and water and it was lucky I found her because she was sinking deeper and deeper" said relieved owner Janusz Topolczyka, 49.
Firefighters rescued the terrified Twinkie after creating a makeshift harness from a knotted hose.
Spokesman Michal Wiaderski said: "She was in quite an agitated state which wasn't helping. But we first pumped the sludge out of the hole and then made a harness to pull her out. Then we washed her down with our water cannon."
"I don't imagine she'll be keen on going on another walkabout anytime soon," he added.
