PENNSYLVANIA -- Humane Society Police Officer Tina Thompson says it's two of the worst cases of dog abuse she's seen since starting her job in July.
Two dogs are now recovering after police were notified that their owners were not taking care of them.
Most recently, it was a Boxer named Dixie that was simply left outside a house in Confluence without food and severely underweight.
"She was crouched down and shaking severely," said Officer Thompson. "The only thing Dixie had was a dog house."
Earlier in December, someone anonymously called to report a 4-year old English Bulldog named Dragger being kept in a crate by its owner in Somerset.
"It filled with feces and urine," Thompson said.
Both Dixie and Dragger are being treated at the Laurel Highland Animal Hospital, but Dragger is soon moving to Pittsburgh to live in a foster home with temporary owners.
The previous owners of both dogs will be facing animal cruelty charges.
As medical bills for the dogs add up, donations are being accepted.
