JAMAICA -- The pit bull who killed 2-year-old Ronica Gregory and injured her sister has been euthanized by the Jamaica Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals (JSPCA).
Managing Director of the JSPCA, Pamela Lawson, confirmed that her charity collected the dog yesterday and he has since been put down.
The dog attacked Ronica and her sister on Tuesday night, as they were walking through a yard in Rose Hall in Linstead St. Catherine.
Ronica was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital and her sister treated for injuries she sustained during the attack.
Today, Lawson again renewed her call for dangerous dogs legislation to be enacted.
However, she said she is not advocating legislation that’s specific to any particular breed of dog.
Lawson said she would like specific measures included in any legislation that governs dangerous dogs, explaining that there has been an increase in the number humans being attacked by dogs.
