Man accused of animal cruelty is arrested

LOUISIANA -- Another new development this week in a FOX 8 Defenders investigation into a Lafourche Parish man accused of animal cruelty.  The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office confirms that Warren "Chris" Michot was arrested Thursday at his home near Thibodaux.

A sheriff's spokesperson told FOX 8, Michot refused to sign a citation for violating the parish's animal noise code this week.  A warrant was then issued for his arrest Thursday.  Michot was taken into custody and bonded out of jail the same day.

On Monday, Michot was in a Lafourche Parish courtroom for a pre-trial conference on other similar charges he violated the animal noise code, failure to vaccinate animals and animal cruelty.  He heads to trial March 14th.

In a FOX 8 Defenders report in November, Michot's neighbors explained that his dozens of dogs bark all day and night.  Joey and Vivian Sanchez complain it's made them sick along with the animal waste they say is washed from Michot's property onto theirs.
