Woman Caring for Deployed Soldier's Pets Charged with Animal Cruelty

TENNESSEE -- An Oak Grove woman is being charged with cruelty to animals in connection with a situation at a Clarksville residence.

The Clarksville Police report says 24-year old Victoria Stover-Lancaster of Mace Lane, Oak Grove had been asked by a friend to care for pets at a Justin Douglas Court residence while he was out of town and his wife was deployed to Afghanistan.

The deployed soldier, Stephanie Clark, had called another friend to check on the animals, which led to the investigation.

One dog was found deceased, while three other dogs were found emaciated and without food or water in the back yard. A cat was also found inside emaciated without food or water.

Ms. Stover-Lancaster reportedly told police she had been taking care of the animals every day since November 15th with a few exceptions and said she had reported the deceased dog as stolen.

Police issued an arrest warrant on aggravated animal cruelty charges against Stover-Lancaster and she had reportedly made arrangements to turn herself in to authorities.
