TEXAS -- Three pit bulls attacked a man and sent him to the hospital, said Beaumont Animal Services.
The man was riding his bicycle in the 2200 block of Avenue A when two 6-month-old pit bull dogs and one adult pit bull dog bit him on his face and both of his arms.
Matthew Fortenberry with animal services says the dogs will be held for a 10-day quarantine.
During that time, he will review witness statements and determine if the dogs will be classified as “dangerous.”
“And if that’s the case, then we would declare the animals dangerous which means the owner would have to get a $100,000 rider on their home insurance in order to keep the animals,” he said.
If they are deemed “dangerous,” he says the owners would also be required to secure the dogs in an enclosed area that extends into the ground, display a sign that indicates they own dangerous dogs and register them with the city.
