The Erie County Sheriff's Department charged Matthew and Amie Burkley with four misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child after executing a search warrant at the couple's Goodrich Road home.
Their four children, ages 7-15 were found living in a house, ankle deep in waste, with numerous dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, prairie dogs, pigs and tortoises.
At least 25 animals, including llamas, an alpaca, cows, horses, goats, chickens and more pigs were found in a barn on the property and in poor condition, according to the Clarence Animal Control Officer.

The animals will remain at the Clarence shelter in the short term until a complete inventory can be taken. As a result, the shelter is in need of food and feed for all of the animals.
The Burkleys were released on appearance tickets returnable at a later date in the Town of Clarence Justice court.
