Stray dogs attack walkers in St. Louis Co.

MISSOURI -- Two stray dogs are undergoing evaluation after they allegedly attacked two men near a walking trail in the St. Louis suburb of Bridgeton.

Authorities say the men were walking Monday afternoon on the parking lot of the Riverwoods Park and Trail along the Missouri River when they were attacked by a pit bull mix and a chow mix.

Paramedics treated the men at the scene, and they drove themselves to a hospital for further treatment.

Details about their injuries were not known.

Police say that when officers arrived the pit bull mix charged at an officer, who shot the animal. The dog ran into the woods. Animal control officers later found both dogs. Both were taken to veterinarians for treatment and evaluation.
