1/22/13: Winthrop Man Charged With Animal Cruelty

NEW YORK -- A Winthrop man was charged with animal cruelty after he allegedly neglected two dogs.

One dog belonging to 42 year old Marvin Taylor, St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies said, had a chain around its neck that was embedded in its skin.

That dog and another, according to police, both appeared emaciated from the lack of food and didn't have any source of water or shelter.

Taylor was charged with aggravated animal cruelty and failure to provide adequate food, water and shelter.

The dogs were surrendered to the Lawrence town dog control officer, who took them to a local veterinarian for treatment.

Taylor was issued tickets to appear in Lawrence town court at a later date.
