Woman sees dog mauled by 2 other dogs

TEXAS -- An elderly woman is devastated after her little dog was mauled by two big dogs running loose in her neighborhood. The attack that killed her 5-year-old Yorkshire terrier/poodle mix, Elvis, happened right in front of her.

"Elvis was an active little dog, a smart little dog, and he really was full of himself," said Mary Noe.

The 88-year-old took Elvis and her other dog, Artie (a Dachshund), on walk Wednesday morning.

She says almost out of nowhere, two big dogs, which neighbors describe as pit bulls, ran straight toward Elvis.

"Like an explosion, they were on Elvis, had him, shaking him, and tearing him apart like a rag doll."

Mary says a neighbor and a couple workers in the area rushed over to try to help.

After the dogs released Elvis, he was rushed to the vet's office, but it was too late to save him.

"I went back and they took the oxygen mask off his face. His little eyes, I started talking to him, and they focused and he looked up at me and I kissed him and I told him I was sorry, that I loved him."

Mary's son, Barry Guthrie, says he never imagined his mom would witness something so horrific.
"She repeated several times that it was the worst day she ever had in her life."

"I'll never get over what happened to him and how it happened," Mary told FOX 7.

Now, as she and her family bury and remember little Elvis, they want to get out a message:

"Control your animals," says Guthrie. "It happened at an elementary school right there, could have been a child, could have been my mom."

Police were called Wednesday and those two big dogs were picked up, but are back in their owner's possession. A judge will decide if those dogs should be listed as vicious and if their owner will be fined. A spokesperson for the city would not yet confirm if those dogs are pit bulls.
