S.C.R.A.P.S. director, Nancy Hill, said a complaint led her officers to investigate. She said they found 30 dogs on the property. Half of the dogs were chained outside to a dog house according to Hill.
“There is no license commercial kennel here,” said Hill, “so there is a violation for having too many dogs on a property without a commercial kennel license.”
Animal protection officers said they also found inadequate animal shelters, frozen water and insufficient food.
Hill said the owner of the animals is cooperating with their investigation.
“They have struggled this winter with a lack of resources and in a good faith effort,” added Hill.
The owners agreed to release some of the dogs and live stock to S.C.R.A.P.S. Animal protection officers took away approximately ten dogs, four horses, three sheep and one goat.
Hill said the homeowner has expressed interest in getting into compliance with a commercial kennel license.
