Man faces charges for abandoning dog in house without food, water

TENNESSEE -- An Oak Ridge man faces a cruelty to animals charge after fleeing a house and leaving his dog behind, according to the Oak Ridge Police Department.

Police say they responded to a theft call on January 19. They discovered Charles D. Moore had stolen numerous items from his landlord before fleeing three days earlier.

When he fled, officials say he left behind a dog without sufficient food or water. The dog was forced to relieve itself inside the house, and officers say it appears the dog had begun to eat the couch.
