Ohio Dad gets 30 days in jail for killing daughter's cat

State v. Thomas Lewis, Ashland Municipal Court. This is not the worst picture. The Defendant pled guilty today to one count of companion animal cruelty for killing his daughter's cat, Bruce.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 25th. We will ask for a jail term. Many thanks to the Ashland Sheriff for its excellent investigation in this case and the Ashland County Humane Society for assisting in the prosecution.

UPDATE:
Today Defendant was sentenced on one count of companion animal cruelty for the negligent killing his daughter's cat.

He will serve 30 days in jail, with 60 more if he violates his probation. He was given the maxium fine plus costs, which should exceed $1000 total.

He is banned from keeping companion animals during probation, and must complete a course in anger management.
