Search continues for dog missing after being attacked

PENNSYLVANIA -- Dozens of people are looking for a missing greyhound who ran off in Canonsburg Park after being attacked by another dog Wednesday morning.

Jim Sulkowski said his adopted greyhound, Grace, ran away after she was attacked by a pit bull that wasn’t on a leash.

“As I was trying to get the dog off of her, she was trying to get away from the dog. She wiggles out of her harness and took off down the street,” Sulkowski said.

Sulkowski said he’s not sure if Grace was injured during attack.

Members of the search party said they’re hoping to lure her in with food.

“She is part of the family,” Sulkowski said. “That’s why it’s particularly upsetting to lose her.”

Sulkowski described Grace as a shy dog. He said she may not be willing to approach a stranger.

“She’s just a nice, gentle dog,” Sulkowski said.

As he continues searching, Sulkowski said he wants to get the message out to other dog owners.

“People should follow the law and keep their dogs on a leash or tied up,” Sulkowski said.

Anyone with information on Grace’s whereabouts is asked to call 412-874-4512.

The team will continue searching for Grace on Saturday. They plan to meet at 10 a.m. in the parking lot above the pool at Canonsburg Town Park.

The group can also be found on Facebook at Going Home Greyhounds.
