Barbara Reed came home and saw the damage. "My first thought was oh my God, a car hit my fence," said Reed.
Reed went into the backyard and found Takota and Cinnamon, clinging to life. Her daughter Megan's dog Teddy had puncture wounds.
"There was just so much blood around her," said Reed. "I didn't know what to do."
Somehow, Teddy survived |
Takoda and Cinnamon died at the vet. Only Teddy survived.
"We don't know how long they were lying there," said Megan Reed. "Coda's trachea was crushed. So they couldn't do anything for him."
RIP Takoda |
After the attack, Allen Animal Control picked up two pit bulls nearby. But those dogs were returned to their owners.
RIP Cinnamon |
"We examined the dogs, there was nothing we found that would indicate they were involved in the attack," said Sgt. Jon Felty, an Allen Police Department spokesman.
[Hmm, how about you get mouth swabs from the pit bulls and get swabs from the wounds on the dead dogs and compare the DNA? Duh.]
The Reeds aren't convinced. "I wish that there was more that they could do," said Megan Reed. "These dogs seem to be the dogs that did it. Why can't they do more?"
The Reeds are warning their neighbors. They put up a sign in their front yard and they're passing out flyers with details about the attacks.
"I just don't want this to happen to anybody else," she said.
