Cat mauled to death in another St Paul's Cray dog attack

UNITED KINGDOM -- A cat from St Paul's Cray has been mauled to death by a dog.

Toby, a black domestic cat, was let out of the house on the evening of April 12 by his owner, Emma Bray, 24, of Silverdale Road.

Not long later she received a knock on the door from a neighbour, who told her that an American Bulldog had attacked and killed Toby.

Ms Bray, whose two young children have been left traumatised by the incident, was too upset to speak to News Shopper.

RIP Toby

Her mother, Patricia Bray, of Leesons Hill, said: "She let the cat out on Friday evening.

"A bit later there was a knocking on the door. It was a neighbour.  She said to my daughter 'you've got a black cat haven't you?'

"My daughter replied 'yes'. Then the neighbour told her that a dog just mauled him and he was dead."

The neighbour had seen everything. Toby had been ripped to shreds by the bulldog, which wasn't on a lead.

Ms Bray, 62, added: "My daughter then called me and said 'a dog has just killed Toby'.

"She said he was lying in a pool of blood outside.  I have never heard her so distressed."

Her two boys, 8 and 9, have been left devastated by the incident.

Ms Bray said: "We're not sure how old Toby is because he is adopted, but for the children he has always been around. He was a very friendly cat. He used to follow them to school.  They really miss him."

Ms Bray says her daughter knows the owners of the dog, and later confronted them.

She said: "There aren't many dogs like that dog. She knows who owns the dog and she has gone round and spoken to them.

"All the owner said is 'I am so sorry, I am so sorry' but that won't bring Toby back. It could have happened to a child. The dog should be put down."

The story comes after a couple's Jack Russell was recently badly injured in a dog attack in Hoblingwell Park Recreation Ground, St Paul's Cray.

Bromley Police received reports of a dog killing a cat in Silverdale Road, St Paul's Cray, just before 8pm on April 12. Local police teams are aware of the incident.
