GEORGIA -- Effingham County man is in jail after he allegedly stabbed a neighbor's pig that had wandered into his mobile home park Wednesday.
Effingham County Sheriff's Office Spokesman David Ehsanipoor says Benjamin Fullwood, 23, charged after the wandering pig with a knife, and encouraged his dog to attack, according to official reports.
Deputies say the animal had gotten loose from a neighboring property on Courthouse Road, and did not pose a threat to any humans or other animals. Ehsanipoor says the pig was indeed a pet.
Ehsanipoor noted "It was a senseless and brutal attack on a domestic animal in front of bystanders including children who were begging for him to stop. The animal posed no threat to others. Fullwood was stabbing the pig as his two pit bulls were attacking it."
Fullwood is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, obstruction and trespassing. Authorities say the pig is badly injured but is alive.
NOTE: Fullwood was also arrested in 2011 on animal cruelty charges for allegedly abandoning cats and dogs in unsanitary cages for days without food or water.
