Total of dead animals found at Indiana farm now past 100

INDIANA -- Officials have found more animal carcasses buried in a manure pit at a property in Madison Co.

A sheriff’s deputy says the total of dead animals is past the 100 mark now.

Wednesday, officials found an animal carcass sitting atop the manure pit. When they dug deeper, they found several more in various stages of decomposition.

Police were originally called to a property on 1700 North between 350 and 400 West on reports of a foul stench Tuesday evening.  The location is just north of Elwood, Ind.

When they arrived, they found dozens of animal carcasses and several other animals that were “just skin and bones.”
