Woman charged with animal cruelty for allegedly shooting dog

KENTUCKY -- An Owensboro woman who adopted a dog from Daviess County Animal Control in February was charged Monday with animal cruelty for allegedly killing the dog.

Devera W. Palmer, 26, of the 1600 block of Booth Avenue was charge with second-degree animal cruelty.

The charged stems from a March 24 incident, where a sheriff's deputy found the dog — a 5-month-old German shepherd mix — dead of a gunshot wound to the head at Little Hurricane Island boat launching area near Lower River and Griffith Station roads.
