Clarksville Man Charged with Cutting Dog's Throat

TENNESSEE -- A Clarksville man is facing animal cruelty charges after allegedly cutting the throat of a dog that tried to bite him.

According to a report from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called early Sunday, May 19 to a home where a dog was badly injured.

According to the report, the dog’s owner said Nathan Haskins was being loud and disruptive Saturday when the dog tried to bite him.

The German Shepherd - Labrador mix, named “Bella Lou,” was nursing 13 puppies at the time.

Haskins allegedly said to the owner, “that dog will be dead by the morning.” The next day, Bella Lou “was found with its throat cut severely.”

Haskins was arrested and Bella was released to Lifehouse Animal Rescue for medical attention for a massive cut that required nearly 25 stitches.

Haskins is charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty.
