Dog owner charged for bite attack

GEORGIA -- The owner of a dog has been charged in a biting incident Thursday, police officials say.

According to reports, a dog said to be a pit bull terrier attacked Cindy Myrick as she was walking on Ninth Avenue around 1 p.m. on Thursday. Myrick, 43, sustained serious injury to her right knee and was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment, officials say.

According to the Albany Police Department, Jamie Bridges has been charged with animal at large and no rabies tag.

While a search for the dog was unsuccessful Thursday, animal control officers returned to the area and located the dog shortly after noon on Friday.

Officials say “Devo,” the accused dog, was transported to the Albany Humane Society where it will remain in quarantine for 10 days.
