Florida Wildlife Officer Rescues Injured Turtle Off Islamorada

FLORIDA -- An injured loggerhead sea turtle is recovering after it was rescued off of Islamorada.

The injured turtle was spotted on the Oceanside of Snake Creek around mile marker 86. The concerned boater called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and said the turtle couldn’t dive under the water or stay under the water for any length of time.

When FWC officer Scott LaRosa found the 125 turtle, he pulled it from the water and took it to the Turtle Hospital in Marathon.

The Turtle Hospital has treated more than 1,200 injured or sick turtles and released them back into the wild, as well as functioning as a nursery for thousands of baby sea turtles rescued from nests.
