Multiple dogs attacked child, one dog shot in Little Rock

ARKANSAS -- A child has been taken to an area hospital following a dog attack that happened Thursday afternoon.

Little Rock Police Dept. Sgt. Cassandra Davis said multiple dogs bit a 12-year-old child. The incident happened near Izard St. and 20th Avenue as the child was on his way home from school.

Officer Dawana Phillips said a man had eight dogs that got out of his fenced backyard; as many as four of them attacked the child. The primary dog attacking the child was a chow mix, which police shot.

The child has puncture wounds on his arms and legs but the injuries are not life-threatening. All eight dogs are in Little Rock Animal Services custody.

Details of what led to the attack are not known at this time. No charges have been filed, but police continue investigating the case.
