KANSAS -- A Wichita police officer shot and killed a dog that reportedly charged him after biting a 12-year-old girl.
It happened Sunday morning around 8:45 in the 1000 block of South Meridian.
Police say a 35-year-old woman was walking with her 12-year-old daughter when two dogs came at them. One of the dogs, a boxer, bit the girl and punctured the skin.
The mother called police. Officers arrived on scene moments later, and the boxer reportedly charged them as well. One officer pulled his gun and shot the dog several times.
Police say they have had reports that these dogs had been aggressive before.
The second dog, a medium white and black dog ran away. The owner could face fines.
The girl was treated for minor injuries.
