Woman Pleads Not Guilty In Animal Cruelty Case

KENTUCKY -- The woman accused of abandoning a puppy near the Kentucky River in Frankfort has pleaded not guilty in the case.

Stephanie Cooper, 43, was arrested in March and charged with cruelty to animals.

Investigators say Cooper was caught on surveillance cam dumping a five-week-old chihuahua puppy on the river bank just yards from the Frankfort Humane Society.

A vet said the dog would have have died if left there any longer.

Cooper will be back in court again June 4.
