Zara Martin, of High Street, Elstree, is planning on lobbying officials to change the law surrounding vicious pets after three-year-old Bonnie was attacked by the black “monster”.

She was walking her “bubbly and playful” Yorkshire Terrier in Elstree Hill with two of her four other dogs, when the ferocious animal charged towards them and picked Bonnie up with his mouth.
Little Bonnie’s lungs were punctured the vets were unable to save her life - but after ringing the police, Ms Martin was told detectives have no power to prosecute in dog-on-dog attacks.
She now plans to launch a campaign to spread the word and encourage dog owners to muzzle their pets if they know they are prone to erratic tendencies.
The property developer said: “It seems like such a cruel rule and I am in utter disbelief - something has got to change.
“So many other dog owners agree with me and I am determined to do something about it. What if the dog goes for a human this time?
“It is unfair. I will be taking this higher - I won’t let it drop.”
Mother to two-year-old Jamie, Ms Martin is now terrified every time she walks her other Yorkshire Terriers - Baby, 15, Toffee and Fudge, both six, and Bonnie’s brother, Clyde, three.
Last week, she claims she saw the Labrador being walked at the field, and is furious the owner has not taken steps to ensure this does not happen to other innocent pets.

Speaking about the attack, she said: “I was trembling when it happened. The dog came out of nowhere and I was screaming at the top of my lungs.
“It happened so quickly and it was so surreal. It grabbed Bonnie by the mouth and started shaking her. There was blood everywhere.”
“I screamed at the top of my lungs and the dog’s owner was panicking too. I couldn’t believe it, I knew I had lost her. It was heartbreaking - my son Jamie doted on Bonnie.
“My world came crashing down.”
