Good Samaritan Saves Dog Dumped In Trash

NEBRASKA -- A small dog found tied up in a garbage bag Friday morning was rescued by a good Samaritan, according to the Nebraska Humane Society.

The man told officials he found the black terrier mix in a trash can at a car wash a few blocks from 72nd and Maple streets in Omaha.

Officials said the man heard a whimper coming from the trash can as he was cleaning out his car. When he ripped open the bag, he found the dog, which appeared to be very frightened.

The humane society said the dog would not have survived Friday’s warm temperatures tied up in the plastic bag.

People who can no longer take care of their pets or wish to surrender them can take them to the Nebraska Humane Society.

Authorities are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case.  Anyone with information on the case should call 402-444-7800 (ext 1).
