Pet dog dies after attack

UNITED KINGDOM -- A woman was left devastated after her prized pet was savaged to death by another dog.

Pat Jones said she will be in shock for the rest of her life after five-year-old Pomeranian Bailey was seized by the bigger dog and thrown around like a rag doll.

Sadly Bailey died the day after the attack.

Pat, 67, of Yorkshire Street, Morecambe, said: “We were on the beach and I let my two dogs off the lead. The next thing this dog had Bailey in its mouth. Bailey was really badly shaken and the day after he died. I shall never go near the beach again.

“It’s devastating. Bailey and Bertie were brothers and they do everything together. Bertie has hardly eaten anything because he is pining for his brother.

“People need to know about this dog because it is going to do it again.

“It was treating Bailey like it was a toy. At the end of the day a dog is a wild animal and unpredictable. This just shows how they can turn.

“It’s been a devastating experience. If your dog is ill that’s one thing but he was so healthy. It shouldn’t have happened.”

The attack happened on May 22 on the beach near the Battery.

A spokesperson for Lancaster City Council said: “We can confirm that the dog attack was reported to us. We are still gathering details from the complainant so we can investigate further.” Call the dog warden service on 582757.
