UNITED KINGDOM -- Police are appealing for witnesses after a "horrific" dog attack in Anerley left a 14-year-old girl with potentially life changing injuries.
The incident took place in the play area in St Hugh's Road, Anerley, at around 9.20pm on Sunday (June 2).
The victim was skating when a large bull mastiff, which was off its lead, ran up to her, jumped up and seized her arm and shook her about, causing serious injuries to her arm.
She was taken by ambulance to St Thomas's Hospital, where she underwent surgery for injuries to her arm, deemed potentially life changing due to their seriousness.
Detective Inspector Louise Knipe from Bromley Police said: "This was an horrific attack that has left a young girl seriously injured.
"I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and who witnessed the incident, or who has any further information that could assist us, to contact Bromley Police's CID on 020 8284 8859, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
A 41-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control in a public place, after a warrant was executed at an address in Anerley yesterday evening (June 3).
A dog suspected of being involved in the attack was also seized at the address.
