WEST VIRGINIA -- A 10-year-old Wheeling girl underwent reconstructive surgery Thursday after being attacked by a vicious dog last night on New Jersey Street on Wheeling Island.
The girl was bitten in the chest and the face, where she suffered the most severe injuries.
WTRF's Jamie Ward spoke with police Thursday after they had went out in search of the dog and the owner. They found both.
The owner was given a ticket for having an unlicensed vicious dog and the dog was signed over to the dog warden. Deputy Chief Kimball said this case is closed but the problem is far from over.
Police say this was the second ticket given to the dog's owner, Derek Bates. He is scheduled to be in court next Wednesday.
