COLORADO -- The Dumb Friends League along with officials in Adams County removed 118 dogs while investigating a case of hoarding north of Watkins Tuesday.

Sixty dogs went to the Adams County Animal Shelter and the rest went to the Dumb Friends League Quebec Street Shelter.

A press release from the Dumb Friends League says this is an on-going investigation and the owner is cooperating and also cooperated with the removal of the dogs.

The dogs are not ready for adoption because experts at both shelters will have to conduct medical exams and tests on each dog.

“The best way to help is to donate money or supplies to the Adams County Animal Shelter or to the Dumb Friends League,” the release says.

Teams from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Adams County Animal Control, Adams County Animal Shelter and Dumb Friends League Investigations all worked together to remove the dogs.

The shelters hope to start adopting the dogs in a couple of weeks.
