2 Pit Bulls on the Loose After Attacking Puppy

CALIFORNIA -- Cortney Gomez and her grandfather were taking 4-month-old Molly for a walk when two dogs believed to be pit bulls came out of nowhere and attacked.

One of the dogs had the puppy locked in its mouth and was jerking it back and forth, Gomez said..

Gomez tried to fight off the dogs, but they wouldn’t let go.

Just when she thought Molly would be killed, a pair of good Samaritans stopped to help.

One of them was able to pry the dog’s mouth open with an umbrella, freeing the puppy, Gomez said.

Molly suffered four severe lacerations, but after undergoing surgery was expected to recover.

Gomez’s grandfather and the man who stopped to help received minor bite wounds.

Animal control officers searched for the dogs, but were unable to locate them.
