FLORIDA -- A 13-month old from Dania Beach was bitten by the family pit bull, Wednesday.
A young child was taken to a hospital after being bitten by a pit bull dog Wednesday, officials said.
The incident was reported shortly before 10 a.m. at a home along the 4000 block of Southwest 44th Avenue.
"13-month-old twins were crawling on the floor when the dog became erratic, jumped on the child and bit," Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter said.
The other twin was not hurt.
The injured child was alert and was transported to Hollywood Memorial Hospital by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, Carter said.
The dog belonged to someone living at the residence and was placed with animal control personnel, officials said.
No further information about the incident, or the child's condition, was available.
