MISSISSIPPI -- Brenda Jones says she's lucky to be alive.
Wednesday morning, she was taking her daily walk along Utah Street in Jackson when she says two dogs surrounded her, then attacked.
"They were snatching and dragging me like I was a rag doll," says Jones.
She tells us after countless bites and scratches--and what seemed like an eternity--a man came to her rescue.
"It could have been a small child," she says. "I had to fight for my life."
No one knows that better than Brenda's daughter, Tiffany.
"It was life-threatening," says Tiffany Love. "And she was in surgery for seven hours today."
Brenda says she received stitches on both legs, both arms, her back, eye and ear. She wants these dogs off the streets so they won't hurt anyone else.
"I want to see the dogs put down, and I want somebody to pay for my pain and what I went through. Because I couldn't get nobody to help me, and it seemed like they were going to bite me forever," says Jones.
"Anybody that has any vicious dogs, basically, keep them under control, because it could have been a child or anything, or I could have lost my mother today," says Love, through tears. "I'm thankful that she's still here."
We reached out to Jackson Animal Control to see if they took any dogs from Utah Street Wednesday. We were told they're closed for the night. We'll stay on top of this story and bring you more as it becomes available.
