Kinston woman dragged dog behind SUV

NORTH CAROLINA -- A Kinston woman was arrested Saturday after police found a bloodied dog tied to the bumper of her SUV.

Jennifer Marie Wilson, 26, of 305 McDaniels St., was charged with felony cruelty to animals. Her bond was set at $15,000.

Police were investigating a traffic collision at about 1 a.m. Saturday when they noticed blood in the parking lot of the Lunch Box Convenience Store, at 523 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Witnesses told officers that they saw a small dog being dragged behind an SUV that had pulled into the lot.

The dog was turned over to the Lenoir County SPCA, which treated its injuries.
