UNITED KINGDOM -- The life of a man savaged by a dog as he walked his pet at Fens Pool Nature Reserve, Brierley Hill, had been badly affected as a result of the attack, a court heard.
Judge John Warner, at Wolverhampton Crown Court, said it was clear Alan Pearce had sustained "very unpleasant injuries" after being badly bitten by the Japanese Akita dog.
Mr Pearce was walking with his pet Staffordshire Bull Terrier when the dog attacked and he was bitten on both feet after slipping to the ground.
The dog was in the charge of 27-year-old Mohammed Mahdizada and the attack left Mr Pearce with wounds that needed stitching at hospital.
Mahdizada, of Walpole Street, Wolverhampton, admitted having a dog that was dangerously out of control in public and that caused injury and he was remanded on bail until September 2.
The court heard police had now managed to track down the owner of the animal but sentence could not be passed until officers had assessed the Akita dog for dangerousness.
The judge told Mahdizada: "This is clearly a very serious matter."
And he said a destruction order for the animal had to be considered but could not be made until representations on behalf of the owner were heard.
