Nevada court hears case of deadly dog attack on little boy

NEVADA -- The Nevada Supreme Court will determine the fate of a 120-pound dog that fatally mauled a 1-year-old boy in Henderson.

Justices are scheduled to hear oral arguments in the case Wednesday.

"Onion", a Mastiff - Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, was set to be destroyed after the deadly attack on April 27, 2012 that killed the owner's grandson.

According to court documents, the dog acted when the boy tripped and fell onto it in a dark room.

The owner gave up the dog to Henderson officials, but the Lexus Project rescue group intervened. It wants to send Onion to a sanctuary in Colorado.

Onion's owner later said she wanted the group to have the dog.

[Onion's owner is an idiot. How will they feel when this dog kills someone else's child?]

Nevada justices will decide whether the rescue group has legal standing in the case.
