TEXAS -- Authorities continue their search for a dog who killed a woman Monday morning in a subdivision just outside of the Dayton city limits.
The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office states that a husband received a call from his wife while he was at work in Pearland. The woman told him that their dog had bit her, and then the phone line suddenly went dead.
The husband then called the sheriff’s office just after 10 a.m. and asked that officials check on his wife. Upon arrival, deputies found an aggressive dog within the home’s gated front yard. The canine is described as one with long black hair with blood on its head and back.
Despite officials shooting the dog, it ran off. However, the dog returned and authorities fired two more shots before the animal fled under a fence and into the nearby woods. Deputies then entered the home and found the woman dead from excessive bleeding from dog bites.
Additional reports indicate that the larger dog attacked one of the family’s smaller dogs. When the woman rescued the smaller dog, the larger dog turned on her and fatally bit her.
As the sheriff’s office continues its task of searching for the dog, they are asking that if anyone sees the dog to please call the dispatcher at (936) 336-4500 and to not approach the animal, for it is considered dangerous.
Officials are also asking residents of Woodland Hills to keep (small) animals and children out of yards and fields until the dog is captured.
