Evansville Animal Control Officer taken to hospital after dogs attack

INDIANA -- An Evansville Animal Control officer is recovering from several dog bites after he says he was attacked at a home on Spring Park Drive Tuesday evening.

Police say Officer Anthony Ray Crothers had gone to the home in reference to a dog bite. When he knocked on the door, the resident's two dogs came outside and attacked him.

Crothers says he was able to get away after being bitten on both arms, hands, legs and his crotch.

He called another Animal Control Officer on the radio for assistance and EPD officers arrived as well. When they arrived, Crothers was leaning against his vehicle in the driveway to the residence.

AMR arrived and began treating the officer who was taken to Deaconess ER for treatment of his bite wounds.

The dogs were brought inside by their owner and later taken into custody by Animal Control for quarantine.
