FLORIDA -- Two dogs have been shot to death. And a man is now in serious condition at UF Health after police said the dogs attacked him.
It happened Wednesday afternoon on Kentucky Street on the northside.
Police said the man in his 20's was riding down Kentucky Street on a scooter when the two staffordshire terrier dogs somehow got out from a fenced in yard. Police said the dogs are in the pit bull family. They both started attacking the man. Neighbors heard screams for help and one ran out with a gun and shot one of the dogs.
Police told Action News when officers arrived the second dog came at officers -- so they killed that dog too.
"They've actually come close to the fence walking down the street. It could of been me. It could have been one of my kids that got attacked," said Samuel Rivera, who called 911.
Right now no charges have been filed. But neighbors said the dogs' owner should suffer consequences.
