Motorist killed kitten by throwing it out of a car window at animal rights protestors then sneaked back to watch their reactions

NORTH CAROLINA -- Police are now investigating the incident, which occurred at Charlotte’s Square on Sunday as members of the Dolphin Day Group commenced their annual gathering in opposition to dolphin hunting by Japanese fishermen, which begins September 1 each year.

Police are now investigating the incident, which occurred at Charlotte’s Square on Sunday as members of the Dolphin Day Group commenced their annual gathering in opposition to dolphin hunting by Japanese fishermen, which begins September 1 each year.

‘It was calculated,’ Burton Pinckney, a member of the Charlotte Dolphin Day group, told the Charlotte Observer. ‘He knew there were animal lovers there.’

Things went peacefully until 11:30am, when a car police believe was a silver Hyundai Sonata sedan stopped at a nearby light and tossed the little kitten to the ground before speeding off.

‘The kitten panicked. It had a broken leg and kind of ran in circles,’ said Pinckney. ‘One of our people was able to scoop it up and cradle it.’

The kitten died ten minutes later.

‘People were in tears,’ Pinckney said.

An officer nearby was as angry at the incident as the animal activists.

‘The officer was fantastic. He was as angry as we were.’

The local police have since reviewed surveillance footage and police say the driver pulled into a nearby parking lot shortly after tossing the kitten.

‘Some of us think the guy got out and walked back, just to watch people’s reactions,’ he said. ‘That would be absolutely sick.’

Police say they have now run out of leads in the case and are asking the public for help. The suspect would face felony animal cruelty charges if found.
